Dr. Cooper Mitchell

Cooper Mitchell, DDS, FAGD, MAGD

Dr. Cooper Mitchell began his academic career at the University of Idaho, where he graduated at the top of his class with a Bachelor of Science degree in biological systems engineering. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota and completed an additional year of advanced clinical training through the AEGD residency program at Idaho State University.

Dr. Mitchell is deeply committed to lifelong learning and clinical excellence. In 2017, he earned his Fellowship (FAGD) in the Academy of General Dentistry. In 2023, he achieved Mastership (MAGD), one of the highest distinctions in general dentistry and an honor earned by only about 2 percent of dentists nationwide. The MAGD designation reflects the completion of more than 1,100 hours of advanced continuing education, along with rigorous examinations and ongoing peer review. This extensive training allows Dr. Mitchell to provide dental care that is not only beautiful, but designed for long-term function and durability.

Because of his advanced training, Dr. Mitchell offers a wide range of services beyond those of a typical general dentist, from preventive care to complex full-mouth rehabilitation. Patients may also benefit from sedation dentistry, a safe and relaxing option that allows multiple procedures—such as fillings, crowns, root canals, and surgical treatments—to be completed comfortably in fewer visits.

Dentistry has been part of the Mitchell family since 1926. As a third-generation dentist, Dr. Mitchell carries forward a legacy of integrity, skill, and service. He grew up in Helena and is a graduate of Capital High School. His father served as dental chief at the VA Hospital at Fort Harrison for 36 years, and his grandfather practiced dentistry for nearly five decades in Kansas.

Outside the office, Dr. Mitchell is the proud father of three boys and enjoys spending time outdoors in Montana, including hiking, fishing, boating, and skiing.
